The results demonstrate clearly visible segmentations of bone surfaces with a localization accuracy of <0.6 mm and mean errors in estimating fracture displacements below 0.6 mm.
The mission of seismic isolation is two folds: (i) protecting the integrity and (ii) protecting the contents of a structure by reducing floor accelerations to target limits and concurrently keeping base displacements below practical and economical limits.
This occurred because the amplification of the lateral ground displacements below the raft was restrained by the DMWs, and the shear force acting at the pile head was very small because the lateral external force acting at the bottom of the raft was carried mostly by the DMWs.
Despite the severe retinal movement, thermally induced tissue displacements below 1 μm were measured for a non-visible lesion with 12 K temperature increase (Fig. 14).
This is done using starting materials which adopt a hairpin structure; these then assemble into the final conformation in a cascade reaction, in a specific order (see Strand displacement cascades below).
In this range the displacement was below 2 μm, which was too small to be measured by tracking the retinal surface.
The Benjamin equation physically characterizes the vertical displacement (bounded above and below by rigid horizontal planes) of the interface between a thin layer of fluid atop and a much thicker layer of higher density fluid (cf. [1]).
