In the paper, taking a triplex single-acting reciprocating pump as the research object, we established an experimental system for testing valve disc׳s motion parameters to directly acquire the valve disc motion parameters (acceleration, velocity, and displacement) under actual conditions.
The initial test results showed differences between the command displacements and the actual column displacements, and the peak displacements were slightly modified accordingly.
Then, PPP-estimated and relative GPS-estimated displacements were compared to actual displacements and also statistical significance test performed to see which displacement amount can be detectable using both methods.
A placebo test (available upon request with the authors), with a placebo 'treatment' at 2.5 years before the actual displacement, shows that prior to displacement, the groups of treated and controls are comparable.
