A delegation of university deans from the Dominican Republic also recently visited President René Préval of Haiti to offer to help displaced Haitian college students.
Alex Proudfoot, from Study UK, the association for private further and higher education colleges in the UK, said: "[The] lack of care and attention paid by the government to the plight of students displaced by college closures has undoubtedly contributed to a serious deterioration in the UK's reputation as a safe destination for study".
As digital badges become established, they will start to displace traditional college transcripts and diplomas, and may enable the long-term restructuring of education.

(Unfortunately, one of the few concrete steps the current Fast Track bill would take is to eliminate funds for community colleges for workers displaced by trade).
The pressing needs of others ― education and job retraining for those displaced by the new economy; affordable college for the children of struggling families ― matter not.
