As shown in Table 2, discriminating grade 1 from grade 3 tumors with our Fuzzy molecular method exhibited better results than with the histologic one.
Recently, a 5-gene genetic grade signature [ 28] and a 97-gene genomic grade index [ 29] have been identified, both capable of discriminating grade I and grade III tumors with high accuracy, and partitioning intermediate grade II tumors into grade I-like and grade III-like classes with enhanced prognostic resolution.
The H3 mRNA levels correlated with tumor grade (R=0.56, P=0.0012), Ki-67 proliferative antigen labeling index (R=0.58, P=0.0008) and patient survival time (R=−0.50, P=0.005), discriminating low-grade and high-grade tumors.
