Given the variation in measurement across the two countries, it remains difficult to determine whether the discrepant rates are indicative of true differences in practice between the countries.
It is not known why the Chinese mothers have higher BAP rates, and further study is needed to determine whether cultural background leads to such discrepant rates, or whether the variation in rates are within the expected range of these BAP characteristics.
