The comprehensive study looks at 20 measures that would suggest whether companies are integrating sustainability into their business systems and decision-making, based around the four key areas of governance, stakeholder engagement, disclosure and performance.
Specifically, this study examined the corporate websites of three apparel companies, exploring the companies' stated motives for engaging in CSR, the themes present in their CSR disclosures, and the stakeholder groups identified in these disclosures.
These new expectations are underlined by the recent report in December 2016 of the FSB Task Force on Climate-Related Financial Disclosures (TCFD), with new disclosure recommendations for companies towards stakeholders.
