JPMorgan Chase discloses capital for its investment banking unit, though it has been at $40 billion exactly for several quarters, raising questions about the number's usefulness.
The company has raised $45 million in disclosed capital, according to Crunchbase, which leaves around $8 million unaccounted for — although that covers both the Google investment and a previous Series A deal in 2014, which was also undisclosed.
Livingston disclosed that capital expenditure had increased by £50m to £608m "in line with the phasing of our major investment programmes".
Companies are required to disclose their capital expenditures, but not to distinguish the outlays that expand a business from the outlays that merely enable it to tread water.
More ominously, Murchie notes, the company disclosed "maintenance capital expenditures"–money spent to replace assets that have worn out of only $10 million on $1 billion in propane tanks and vehicles.
