Benea-Chelmus et al. note that the maximum amplitude of the oscillations, although non-zero, was so small that up to one trillion individual detection events at each value of the time delay were required for the correlations to be discernible from measurement-induced random fluctuations (shot noise).
The effect of noise on the ICP waveform is discernible in Figure 2, which shows the fluctuations of the ICP around the deterministic path predicted by the deterministic Marmarou model.
However, local fluctuation of the maximal compression modulus is discernible in relation to the lateral measuring positions.
No discernible differences were detected in the spectral energies of the turbulent fluctuations by filtering in either the physical domain or the transformed space.
There was monthly fluctuation in all the three hospitals with no discernible trend observed.
There was no discernible trend either before or after this date, as shown by the fluctuations about the mean level for each period (horizontal dotted, Fig 3a), and by the switch in direction, but no change in magnitude, of the anomalies from the overall mean level for 1970 2004 (Fig. 3c).
Simple variation from month to month was dominated by a fluctuation with one-year period and the correlation was not discernible after 1993.
As a frequency jump is approached, there is mean phase deviation from this 2nπ condition, and the degree of phase (or period) fluctuation increases; at the jump, cross-probability densities show no discernible coherence.
Finally, the temporal injections all produced extensive label in layer 2 (for 1.5 2.5 mm), a secondary band in layer 6, and scattered Zn+ neurons in layers 3 and 5. None of these intrinsic connections had any discernible patchiness, except that the sparse label in layer 3 of temporal areas showed some periodic fluctuation.
The difference of about 90 mrad is accumulated in two frequency ranges clearly discernible in Fig. 4. In the frequency band of 40 400 Hz, noise34 is supposed to be dominated by fluctuations in coupling losses into the nonlinear fibres.
