We also show that women from disadvantaged socio-economic backgrounds (Black, Hispanic and single or never married) are the most likely to be encouraged to participate in the labor force when they receive help from their parents, which is consistent with the evidence that grandparental childcare is more affordable than formal childcare (Presser, 1989).
