Growing up middle-class in Lebanon, Jarrah "played basketball and took disabled kids camping and volunteered in an antidrug program" -- activities much like those some of Flight 93's crew and passengers had engaged in.
When the Pakistani Army shelled their ancestral home in Dera Bugti in December 2005, Mr. Bugti took to the hills with his grandfather, who was 80 and partly disabled, and they camped for months in mountain caves.
'I think it was really good that at the camp disabled kids and able-bodied kids mixed – it was good for everybody to understand that we're equal and everyone is the same,' she says, echoing Abbasova's description of those with disabilities as 'just people'.

Like many first-generation Southampton residents, Lisa Jackson, 43, an interior designer, made her entry into local society by joining the board of the Southampton Fresh Air Home, a summer camp for disabled children.
"I woke up one day and thought, 'I have to do something'," he says, reflecting on his decision to bring together a group of disabled people in the camp that included those who were deaf, blind or had lost limbs in the conflict.
