The groom's father, who is retired, worked in Phoenix as the sales director of store systems at JDA Software, a company providing retail automation software.
Dino Nifakos, the director of store design at the company's headquarters in Montreal, said the results had been very good.
"But unless you have good underlying data, it's really nothing more than a fancy map," said Greg Kurfoote, director of store location research and planning.
"Thank God we'd already planned to buy new equipment for a lot of stores this year," said Richard S. Gilbert, director of store systems at Duane Reade, a chain of 200 drugstores in New York City.
"It's a great place for new artists who may be intimidated by the higher-end galleries and by the difficulty of getting a show," Mr. Jansen, a senior vice president and director of store planning at Masters of Branding in Manhattan, said of the gallery.
Tom Abbate, director of stores at St . Vincent dePaul in Rockville Centre, said the charity had 250 bins throughout Long Island.
Randy Scalise, the regional director of stores for Macy's, said, "We had been interested in the site for years, but with the economy now stabilizing, we are now able to invest in new stores".
"We heard about the fire on the news and came to check it out but decided not to open the store," said Aleta Erlandsson, the director of stores for Henry Beguelin, the designer boutique that has a shop at the mart.
It is not a country club, but the offices are lively and full of 20-somethings, many of them recent college graduates — the director of stores was a music major at Harvard — attracted at being able to take on significant responsibilities fairly early in their careers, and also by the likelihood that Steve & Barry's will eventually go public.
Likewise, The New York Times, which has added Titanic merchandise to its online store, has been selling items related to the Titanic "since the store started in 1998," said Jim Mones, director of the store.
