Halogen Lamp light bulbs are most commonly used in desk lamps, torchieres, floor lamps, accent table lamps, under-cabinet lighting, bath brackets, vanity lights, wall sconces, swing arm lamps, ceiling lamps, flush mounts, pendants, directional lamps, chandeliers, kitchen island lights, landscape lighting, path lighting, and also outdoor spot/flood lights.
Because of this, the light is much more directional and the lamp could thus prove more efficient than bulbs that scatter light in all directions.
Unlike incandescent or fluorescent lamps, which spew light in all directions, LEDs generate directional light, making them ideal for selectively illuminating areas.

Balancing the novelty is the gravitas of designers like Sam Hecht of Industrial Facility, who recently did a lamp called Beam, which blends both directional and ambient light, in what Hecht calls "an illustration of light itself".
At the start of his career, he focused on developing directional beams that could be moved wherever the user wished and on producing lamps with two levels of lighting: one glowing upward; the other downward.
Another issue is that current LEDs generally provide only "directional light" rather than a 360-degree glow, meaning they are better suited to downward facing streetlights and ceiling lights than to many lamp-type settings.
