McDonald's has asked its five direct suppliers of bacon, Canadian bacon and sausage to provide their plans for reducing reliance on sow stalls.
The number of direct suppliers for this type of operation is being cut from about 500 to 65, and they will be supplying modules.
According to the YouGov survey, only 24% of direct suppliers to the supermarkets said they had a good understanding of the code.
Some of these are direct suppliers for foreign brands.
By the end of 2004, it will require its direct suppliers, mostly of chicken, to stop giving antibiotics in low doses to speed animal growth.
"Since 2013, more than 99.9% of direct suppliers located purchases of cattle in the Amazon region comply with the Public Commitment of Livestock and agreements signed with federal prosecutors," it noted.
Part of the appeal of direct suppliers is that you can often customise PCs to get what you want.
According to the YouGov survey carried out on behalf of the GCA, 62% of direct suppliers said they had experienced an issue in the past year – compared with 70% in 2015 and 79% in 2014.
Ford also cut the number of direct suppliers.
In a statement, the company said: "The Coca-Cola Company has thousands of direct suppliers throughout the world that we audit, through independent, third-party auditors, on a regular basis.
