No association between PRLR expression and clinicopathological parameters, such as T and N classification as well as tumour differentiation, gender and age, was observed (Table 4).
In the tumor tissues, methylation of KEAP1 was not associated with any clinicopathological features, such as primary site location, differentiation, gender, Duke's stage, clinical stage, age, lymph node metastasis, and serum concentration of carcinoembryonic antigen (CEA) (data not shown).
Mean largest tumor size was greater in the TACE group (3.8 vs 2.9 cm) as was AFP, but these differences were not statistically significant (Table 1) Other features such as tumor number, tumor differentiation, gender, age, or TNM stage did not differ between the groups.
Increased levels of CA IX expression was significantly correlated with presence of metastasis (P=0.01); increasing Dukes' stage (P<0.01); lymphatic metastasis (P=0.01); vascular metastasis (P=0.05); lymph node metastasis (P=0.02); death (P=0.03) and recurrence (P=0.02), but not with tumour size, site, differentiation, gender or age of patients (P>0.05) (Table 1).
As expected, clinicopathologic features including TNM stage (P < 0.0001), lymph node metastasis (P < 0.0001), depth of invasion (P = 0.011), preoperative serum CEA levels (P = 0.001) significantly influenced recurrence of colon adenocarcinoma, whereas intravascular embolus, histological differentiation, gender, age, and tumor size didn't affect recurrence of tumors (P > 0.05).
Genes differentially expressed in the two brains may also act independently of hormones to directly establish brain sexual differentiation, gender-specific behavior and possibly gonad development and function, as shown recently in birds and mammals [21], [22], [80].
