Here we demonstrate that cell surface expression of CEACAM1 on confluent A549 human lung adenocarcinoma cells plays a critical role in differentiated, contact-inhibited cell growth.
Cells of the A549-NT subpopulation retains the characteristics of a more differentiated, contact-inhibited cell type without tumorigenic effects in the nude mouse system, whereas A549-T cells exhibit a relatively undifferentiated, anchorage-independent cell growth.
