Although several reports suggest that elevated serum levels of MMP-9 occur in serum and plasma of breast cancer patients [ 37- 42], correlation with current clinical parameters and association with clinical outcome are still controversial mainly due to different types of samples being assayed and sampling procedures [ 27].
