What is more interesting is that H. volcanii uses only 16 different types of modified nucleotides at 18 positions in the 46 mature tRNA isoacceptors, while both E. coli and S. cerevisiae use at least 28 different types of modified nucleotides at 20 and 35 different positions respectively [ 4, 71].
