Almost all the telomere fusion events observed by Orthwein et al. 3 were between telomere sister-chromatids on the same metaphase chromosome end; indicating that telomere fusions were mostly limited to ligation of sister-chromatid telomeres at chromosome-type metaphase-TIF and that fusion did not readily occur between chromatid-type metaphase-TIF at different metaphase chromosome ends.
