Although the reason for the differences in pathologic phenotype from the previous report is unclear, possible reasons are the difference in the promoters of the retroviral vectors used and the difference in the progenitor cell types infected with retrovirus.
Many classification schemes have been proposed, but these are often based solely on differences in the appearance of light curves and may not always reflect a true physical difference in the progenitors of the explosions.
