In surveying 140 New Era workers, the consortium found that physicians had diagnosed work-related musculoskeletal disorders in 46percentt of the workers, and that 21percentt had either had surgery for such disorders or been told it was necessary.
Our finding concurs with the results of a previous study on cancer survivors (mixed diagnoses) and work disability, which indicated that survivors were leaving the labour force or were functioning less fully at work than before becoming ill [ 44].
