When Michael Govan was chosen by this board in 1994 to be the next director of Dia, its future as a financially stable and creative institution had been well secured and the Dia Collection had become internationally recognized.
Those of us who struggled for 11 years to bring the Dia collection to the New York public are now left with substantial regret at the loss of its mission.

The scheme has also had advice from several living artists represented in Dia's collection, including Walter de Maria, Richard Serra, Michael Heizer and John Chamberlain, who have been involved in designing galleries devoted to their works.
