For example, SS-AD requires less energy and water and can treat more organic solids, and the digested residues can be easily handled without dewatering [ 5, 6].
After complete dewatering, 1 1.5 kg of dried algae was obtained from every 10 kg of wet algae.
The resulting biomass production costs for these three systems including dewatering were 4.95, 4.15, and 5.96 € per kg, respectively.
The solids were pumped to a continuous screw press (Vincent Corp. Model CP10, Tampa, Florida, United States) for dewatering to between 45 and 50%% (w/w) total solids.

For Phoenix, Arizona, switching from centrifugation to chamber filter presses was found to decrease the primary energy consumption of dewatering from approximately 21.4% to 2.4% of total produced bioenergy and decrease related life cycle GHG emissions from 15.0 to 1.65 g CO2 eq/MJ-biomass, respectively.
The rigid briquettes from the ballast at the rotary dewatering press were charcoaled (27.506 MJ kg−1).
In a third WWTP (no. 6), anaerobic digested sludge was dewatered; yet, the dewatering process resulted in only minor removal for TCC and 3-Cl′-TCC, while no significant changes were observed for the other carbanilides.
