Most importantly, any deviation from the basal level of autophagy, either increase (via rapamycin, serum starvation or Tat-beclin 1 [Tat-BECN1] peptide) or decrease (via ATG7 or ATG12 KD), strongly decreased the pluripotency and promoted the differentiation and/or senescence of CSCs.
The results were expressed as means ± standard deviation of percentage values of the basal level (n = 6).

Extending the small FOV by one FWHM decreased the deviations in the basal part of the inferior and septal walls containing the defect from 49%to1.8%8% and from 23%to1.4%4%, respectively.

Both the average basal Ca2+ levels (Fig. 4E i ), and variations in basal Ca2+ levels calculated for each cell as a standard deviation of basal [Ca2+]i over 120 s of measurement (Fig. 4E ii ) progressively increased during osteoclastogenesis till day 4, when fusion of mononucleated cells is generally observed.
The smooth curve in Figure 2b is a noiseless simulation using the complete ntPET model [Morris et al., 2005] with no DA activation (no deviation of DA from basal level).
