The remaining 13% of reads contained one or more deviations in the sample identification tag sequences, contained concatamers or were reads shorter than 100 bases, and were excluded from further analysis.
In order to report population estimates, all analyses were conducted with a weighting factor which corrects deviations in the sample from the population structure (as of 31 Dec 2010) with regard to age, sex, region and nationality, as well as community type and education.

The fluorohydrocarbon study, which was also undertaken in an emergency department setting, was not blinded and was probably underpowered as the standard deviation used in the sample size calculation was considerably smaller than that observed in the data collected.
We reassessed the estimate of the common standard deviation used in the sample size calculation after the first 20 participants as 1.2 (95% confidence interval 0.8 to 1.7), and the independent data safety monitoring committee recommended the trial continue without revision of the sample size calculation for the estimated standard deviation used.
Standard deviations in the samples increased between juveniles and adults (Table 2).
Deviations from HWE were observed in all three species/sub-species, however, at the more stringent significance level (α0.001), only the deviations observed in the sample of B. bonaerensis remained significant.
Overall, the standard deviation of the mean for 15 measurements varied between 18 and 308% and thus for essentially all components was much higher than the mean standard deviation in the reference samples (16%).
The standard deviations in this sample suggest that the individual diets are heterogeneous.
For children, A/D means and standard deviations in the genotyped sample were comparable to those in the total sample of twins, indicating that the genotyped sample is representative (Table 4).
