Average height deviation from a mean plane within the measuring area (Sa), maximum difference of peak and concaved bottom (St), and additional surface area contributed by the roughness compared with the area of flattened surface (Sdr) were calculated by AFM package software.
In-house measurements on SLM parts have revealed an average of absolute values for deviations from a central plane (R a ) to be typically around 10 μm while values ranging from 15 to 22 μm have been reported for EBM [ 85].
(c) Arithmetic mean roughness (R a ): the average roughness or deviation of all points from a plane (centre line) fitted to the test surface (Fig. 2).
Identify if the support is simple or consists of several layers of material, because this will affect stability, flexibility, resistance and deviation from the plane.

In group R, right-lateralized sample stimuli at 15° deviation from the midsagittal plane were associated with a relative enhancement of GBA at ∼68 Hz at a left parieto-occipital sensor (MLP52).
In group R, right-lateralized sample stimuli at 15° deviation from the midsagittal plane gave rise to a spectral amplitude enhancement at 68 ± 1.5 Hz at a left parieto-occipital sensor (Fig. 3, top left map) that was maximal at 0.8 1.0 s after trial onset.
In group L, left-lateralized sample stimuli at 15° deviation from the midsagittal plane were associated with a spectral amplitude enhancement at 59 ± 1.5 Hz at a right parieto-occipital sensor (Fig. 3, top right map) that was maximal at 0.7 0.9 s after trial onset.
The mean roughness value (R a ) represents the arithmetic average of the deviation from the center plane of the sample.
Third, some droplets displayed moon-like shapes (see Supplementary Movie 2), which was probably due to their deviation from the focal plane of the transducers; thus, 2-D Gaussian fitting to these images produced a bias in their center estimation.
