We also note that knockdown of snr1 results in increased volume of the larval brain and proliferation of neural precursors, suggesting that snr1 is not only involved in wing patterning, abdomen development and sustained adult viability30,31, but also plays an important role in the development of the fly nervous system.
Proliferating cells stained positive for the neural precursor marker Prospero or the neuroblast marker Deadpan, but not for the neuronal marker Elav or the glial marker Repo (Supplementary Fig. 2), suggesting that snr1 is essential for the regulation of neural precursor proliferation and the development of the fly brain.
