What rankled some was that Washington thought black sharecroppers would be better off developing their farming and business acumen, able to present themselves as property owners with services whites needed, before seeking the vote and political positions.
During the didactic phase, students develop their observational acumen and interpersonal skills for history taking and physical examination, as well as fine tune their psychomotor, spatial, and critical-thinking skills.
This fall, they launched "Harvard Business School and the NBA: Crossover into Business," a semester-long program in partnership with the NBA that offers 10 active and recently active players a chance to develop their business acumen and explore business interests with the help of M.B.A. student-mentors.
Activities such as cluster-building in Tanzania, and business incubation in Uganda and South Africa, illustrate mechanisms that can bring together business support, mentorship, funding, and networking to help nascent companies develop their ideas and business acumen.
