Invited by the Council of the European Union, of which Slovakia is the current president, and the European Commission to voice their concerns and aspirations about their ability to pursue research careers, 10 early-career scientists from across Europe developed the document, called the Bratislava Declaration of Young Researchers.
The process of developing the document was innovative.
All scientific committee members participated in all steps of developing the document analysis template, coding, identifying themes and the resulting ten quality criteria, and integrating feedback from consultation with partners at local sites.
In parallel to our group developing the ' My Choices' resources for children and parents, Fraser et al. [ 25] were working to develop the 'Wishes Document' for healthcare professionals.
The first meeting to develop the guidance document in Geneva September 2010 was funded by a Young Investigator Grant for Ole F. Norheim, Norwegian Research Council (grant no 611720).
Frameworks for scoring the documents were developed: the planning documents, the hypothetical assignment and the additional question list.

The process for developing the WHO document included drafting of the GWG by one group member before revision and approval by the committee.
In the SAGE interview, policymakers are asked to describe the research engagement actions they undertook in developing the policy document (i.e., how research was searched for, obtained, appraised, generated) and if and how research was ultimately used to inform the document (see Additional file 1 for the SAGE interview).
