At the beginning of therapy and after it ended, all patients underwent blood chemical tests, anthropometrical measures, determination of body composition by bioelectrical impedance, spirometry, and indirect calorimetry.
Following the determination of body composition, obese participants (BMI >30 kg/m2) were selected based on the Canadian guidelines for body weight classification in adults [16] and were separated in the following two groups: a control group (without any intervention; n = 12) and a training group (n = 12).
Determination of body composition using Dual-Energy X-ray Absorptiometry (Figure 1B) showed that M-P mice had a significant increase of their fat mass (43.5%) compared to PBS- or IL-7-treated animals (16% and 19.3%, respectively).
