Using geographic information systems (GIS), we measured residential density, street connectivity, number of local destinations, access to recreational spaces, and land slope of the respondents' neighborhoods, based on network distances with multiple radii (250 m, 500 m, 1,000 m).
Analysis of data on adults from three Western countries found sitting time, the primarily component of sedentary behaviour, 15 was associated with perceived neighbourhood environment attributes; positively with residential density and negatively with a number of different types of destinations, access to services and aesthetics.

We have previously examined the relationship of objective built environment measures (ie, destination access, street connectivity, dwelling density, land use mix) with accelerometer-derived and self-reported physical activity in adults.
Results: We found that 1-SD increases in destination access, street connectivity, and dwelling density were associated with any versus no self-reported transport, leisure, or walking PA, with increased odds ranging from 21% [street connectivity with leisure PA, 95% confidence interval (CI): 0%, 47%] to 44% (destination accessibility with walking, 95% CI: 17%, 79%).
The challenge is that not all destinations have access to information [that enables them] to go from sustainability theory to practice".
The new restrictions could leave time-pressed business travelers hurrying through, many of them changing planes for other destinations, without access to their e-mail or the Web.
