The flagship production, "The Scarlet Ibis" (with a quasi-minimalist score by Stefan Weisman), is designed for audiences young and old; it views the subject of physical disability through the lens of a Southern writer's anguished childhood.
The industry relies on the internet and digitalized photographs for market, yet art and its many forms of presentation and distribution thrive on the "experience economy" – cultural programs, workshops and entertainment designed for audiences who appreciate the participation and memories.
"All our shows are designed for audiences beyond Yale," says the general manager, Carl Chen, a junior sociology major who is as comfortable discussing an 11-member hip-hop collective from Los Angeles as the "media model" the station ought to be pursuing to compete for listeners.
Unfortunately, most of Peirce's published writing and public talks on this topic were designed for audiences that were extremely unsophisticated mathematically (a fact that he lamented).
In other words, this is an edition designed for audiences interested in having a novel as a point of departure for cultural understanding.

But Facebook's implementation of the News Feed doesn't capture the full power of designing for Audience: While Twitter distributes every message consistently, Facebook decides algorithmically which update is shown to whom.
However, this does not imply impulsive rambling: Nicholas Temperley writes that "improvisation is designed for an audience, and its starting-point is that audience's expectations, which include the current conventions of musical form".
That might have ruffled royal feathers, but it was designed for an audience back home, where Mr. Zuma is looking to distract his compatriots from the charge that he is making himself — and his country — the object of ridicule.
The introduction is the most important part and must be specifically designed for the audience.
