In a New Zealand study, predictors of lower vaccination coverage and timeliness within primary care practices were socio-economic deprivation, practice populations with a higher proportion of Maori and staff shortages [ 14].
Rural index values (combination of average distance from a patient's home to their GP and average population density), deprivation, practice size and Quality Outcomes Framework (QoF indicators) will be added from the HSCIC.
Design of the research: This multiperspectival, 24 cross-sectional qualitative interview study used purposively sampled GP practices in four UK Primary Care Trusts across three regions, based on Indices of Multiple Deprivation, practice type, screening mode and screening uptake (see table 1).

We will allocate practices by minimisation, with a random element, on centre, deprivation and practice size.
