Understanding the depletion forces in monocomponent and multicomponent colloidal suspensions within confined conditions has become a topic of increasing interest over the last years in Soft Matter Physics since they are involved in many biological and technological applications.

Aiming for the simulation of colloidal droplets in microfluidic devices, we present here a numerical method for two-fluid systems subject to surface tension and depletion forces among the suspended droplets.

We find that adding the α-pyrene functionalized polymer to CNTs has two counter playing effects: on the one hand, increased surface coverage of the carbon nanotubes increases their solubility; on the other hand increased concentration of free polymer in the solution enhances the depletion forces between the nanotubes.
