The degree to which chemical modification impacts RNA quality depends on fixation time (Fig. 3), and also on the RNA isolation procedure.

The awaken monkeys were required to maintain visual fixation throughout the auditory stimulation, and so, the number of repetitions per condition, as well as the number of conditions depended on fixation performance.
