The clinical profile of HCDD is very similar to that of other MIDD, except for a higher incidence of hypertension and less-frequent association with either a demonstrable plasma cell dyscrasia (∼25% cases when compared with 50% cases of LCDD) or circulating monoclonal free light or heavy chain [ 7].
Western blot analysis, following full optimisation of the conditions, demonstrated MS13 to be specific for a 110 kDa protein consistent with the previously reported Δ11b splice variant of BRCA1 (Wilson et al, 1997), with occasionally a 220 kDa molecule faintly demonstrable in cell extracts.
Indeed, it has been reported that transformed cells often have demonstrable defects in cell signalling.
The same concentration of PAC reduced the overall number of Hs27 cells, without inducing demonstrable changes in cell morphology (Fig. 4J).
Treatment of cells with dsRNA targeting ribosomal proteins S3 or S13 did not cause a demonstrable alteration in cell size, despite severely reducing rates of translation and cell division (data not shown).
