Neurally adjusted ventilatory assist (NAVA) is a new mode of assisted mechanical ventilation that uses the signal obtained from electromyography activity of the diaphragm (EAdi) to control the mechanical ventilator that delivers assist in proportion to the patient's respiratory drive.
