According to the newspaper, "More than one in seven homeowners with loans in excess of a million dollars are seriously delinquent, according to data compiled for The New York Times by the real estate analytics firm CoreLogic.

Taken together, the data suggest that delinquents might be projecting their own heightened angry emotions onto others when they misperceive others' negative, but not hostile, emotional states as anger.
According to Foreclosure.com, a Boca Raton, Fla.-based data service that tracks delinquent mortgage holders, at the end of April there were 87,582 American homes in some phase of foreclosure.
"Broadly speaking, a precedent of deleting adverse information once a delinquent debt is paid would seriously impinge on the quality of data," a spokesman said.
Of the 2,093 loans that remain, 23percentt are delinquent or in foreclosure, according to Bloomberg News data.
The ever cagey financial giant "also wanted to use the data that Litton collects from delinquent borrowers to help it make bets on the housing market, said people familiar with the strategy".
The percentage in default -- slightly above 16percentt -- suggests that a substantial amount of FFEL loans are also delinquent, but the Education Department doesn't have that data.
Foreclosures have since crawled to a halt, even though the number of homeowners delinquent on their mortgages remains sky-high, according to data compiled by Lender Processing Services and RealtyTrac.
It now employs more than 5,000 people, whose jobs range from such relatively simple tasks as collecting money from delinquent credit-card users to such complex ones as data-mining.
