At a tapas bar like this, one might expect desserts to be pro forma, but Barcelona continued to surprise and delight us with its delicate and creamy Key lime cheesecake, wickedly intense chocolate indulgence (topped by vanilla ice cream) and a carrot cake unlike most others (more of a carrot-studded pudding, served hot with cinnamon ice cream).

I, of course, have had incredible tacos that barely resembled these in my lifetime, be it tender, juicy carne asada with raw onions and chopped cilantro and a squeeze of lime served on delicate, buttery flour tortillas from a truck in Los Angeles or potato-and-egg breakfast tacos with salsa verde in Texas that brought a tear to my eye.
Start with oysters ($2 to $2.50 apiece), before carving into the likes of delicate tombo tartare with ginger-lime vinaigrette ($12) and the bavette steak ($28.50).
In the shaker it goes with some fresh lemon juice (lime clashed with the delicate sweetness of the strawberries by announcing itself too loudly) and a bit of rosé.
Likewise kaffir lime leaves, which release a delicate citrus flavour, can be replaced with lime zest.
The delicate taste of the lemongrass and kaffir lime perfumes the soup as much as flavors it; a lighter touch works best.
The scenery is even finer after a visit to the cocktail menu; the Whaler — a delicate mix of rum, Champagne, honey, mint, lime and egg white — shouldn't be missed.
They also serve a delicate purple-coloured butterfly pea flower tea with lime, which is light in flavour and full of antioxidants.
Slices of the delicate white fish were surrounded by an orange-lime sauce, the heat supplied by chipotle peppers and ginger.
