At this time more evidence is needed to demonstrate effective use of pulse oximetry by CHWs, whether milder degrees of altitude-adjusted hypoxemia (90 94 %) are predictive of treatment failure, and if pulse oximetry can be cost-effective at the community level in low-resource countries where equipment maintenance can be challenging.
