We first defined dominant immunogenic regions within Ves v 5, a constituent of wasp venom that is known to represent a target antigen for T-cells.
We leveraged a large RNAseq data set (Hammerman et al, 2012) of 178 SqCC individuals classified into four previously defined dominant SqCC subtypes.
For each pair of ancestral duplicated chromosomes, we characterized the number of retained ancestral genes (i.e., genes that are conserved between the investigated grass species, cf. table 1) and defined dominant (highest number of retained genes) and sensitive (lowest number of retained genes) chromosomal blocks.
The current study now opens a new paradigm that still needs to be proven, where grass adaptation (in particular, adaptation in response to biotic and abiotic stresses) may possibly have been partitioned between the currently defined dominant and sensitive chromosomal compartments in the genome.
> -wrap-foot> notnot done aIgG2a or IgG1 were defined dominant if the IgG2a/IgG1 ratio was ≥1.5 or ≤0.5, respectively bFor ratios between 0.5 and 1.5, the response was defined as mixed The immunogenicity of WIV vaccine depends on the presence and integrity of the HA proteins and an intact viral particle structure (42, 45).
It is known that promoters regulated by TATA boxes are 'sharp' where transcript initiation occurs at a well defined dominant site, no more than 4 consecutive nucleotides long, while promoters regulated by CpG islands are 'broad' where multiple start sites can be detected in a broad genomic region [ 48].
