But the wrist-deep discovery of earthworms elicited shrieks of disgust, and the bulbous acorn squash drew quizzical looks from some, including Zachary Katz of Jersey City, who recognized squash only in its "plate" shape.
"The fact that there are events that happen with no reason is one of the deepest discoveries of physics in the 20th century," Dr. Zeilinger said.
But the deeper discovery was painful.
A new collection of serene video portraits called Deep Discovery involves images of beautiful women overlayed with footage of crashing waves, rising smoke, and running rivers.

The find might also influence hunts for microscopic aliens perhaps hidden in the solar system's deep netherworlds, the discovery of which would prove that life in the universe is not unique to Earth but an inherent property of matter.
