Lower Ordovician carbonates were deposited during an apparent regression (decreasing accommodation space), resulting from rapid sediment accumulation exceeding the overall rate of basement subsidence and eustatic sea-level rise.
Channels may migrate laterally and stack vertically because of autocyclic processes, as in the case of the five channel cycles in well WX 2, which were attributed to gradually decreasing accommodation and frequent major channel diversions (Fig. 8).
