But another statistic was barely noted, except by specialists: the department predicted that the use of corn by the ethanol industry would also decrease 10 percent in the forecast year, to 4.5 billion bushels.

"We face grave uncertainties with regard to resources as a result of the impact of the financial crisis: uncertainties about whether pledges will materialize in actual contributions to the Global Fund and a substantial decrease in our forecast of resources available up to 2013," the fund said.
The drop in initial claims was the largest one-week decline since a 31,000 decrease in the week ended April 5, and brought claims well below Wall Street forecasts for 410,000.

As for a "Tapering Forecast," it seems reasonable that a very modest decrease in the current monthly pace of $85 billion would send stock prices lower.
