In July, two members of the First Cavalry Division, also just back from the war with decorations for their service, were at a party when one killed the other.
The Secretary of the Navy, John H. Dalton, has inserted into Admiral Boorda's official record a letter from the former commander of the Navy, Adm. Elmo R. Zumwalt Jr., declaring that Admiral Boorda was eligible to wear the decorations for his service aboard two warships during the Vietnam War.
