The key is recognizing how disparate issues – concerns like declining wolf populations or insufficient corporate sustainability efforts – connect to the larger, longer-trend problem of developing a sustainable economy, and a sustainable planet.
That is partly a result of declining wolf predation.

The reconsideration of the listing was not related to a recently announced decline in the wolf population in the Rockies.
With respect to policy, the 2003 delisting decision by the USFWS [2] stated that "the levels of documented human-caused mortality in the Northern Rocky Mountains have not, at this time, been significant enough to cause declines in the wolf population or to slow overall wolf population growth" ( p. 15851, emphasis added).
Still, persecution and retaliatory killings were never reported as a cause for the perceived decline in the wolf population, and are not considered as threats to Ethiopian wolves elsewhere (Sillero-Zubiri and Macdonald 1997; Ashenafi et al. 2005; Marino et al. 2013).
In the past three years, the Isle Royale wolf population has declined by about two-thirds, and the Chippewa Harbor Pack seems to be struggling.
With these aggressive tactics in place, Idaho state officials are openly predicting a dramatic decline in Idaho's wolf population.
