Observed mean ratio (and standard deviation) of the sum of the ratings for the extent to which the GP had discussed the treatment or care options concerning the addressed problems with the patient (= shared decision making, rating 1 to 4) divided by the number of problems that were addressed during the consultation.
Table 5 and figure 1 show the importance of predictive tests and prognostic factors for clinical decision making as rated on a scale from 0 to 10. Patient history and imaging were valued significantly higher than predictive tests, psychological screening or patient preferences (all respective comparisons: p<0.01, independent t test).

High level evidence on midwifery continuity of care shows that these models increase women's sense of control over decision making [ 22] hence the link in our hypothesis – that is, increased control will impact on decision making and increase rates of attempted vaginal birth.
During simulated value-based decision making, the firing rates of the pyramidal populations converged to a pattern in which differences in the inputs were magnified and ultimately prompted the selection of one response once one of the pyramidal populations exceeded a set response threshold of 25 Hz (cf. Fig. 1C).
Despite this, a wide range of transfer decisions were still made, suggesting that the main source of variation in decision making and transfer rates is not in the assessment but the personal decision thresholds of clinicians.
The surgery involved in lung cancer is significantly more invasive and technically complex than, for example, that required for breast cancer and patient fitness, age and co-morbidities together with the availability of specialist surgery that are important factors in decision making and resection rates.
While self-assessments may be vulnerable to responder bias, steps were taken to minimize this; a variety of people were involved from each country, primary data sources were used to inform decision making, and the rating levels for each indicator were mostly well defined.
