Now, some updates on upcoming projects, shows that are now dead (for real this time) and, yes, it wouldn't be an HBO TCA session without an update on the "Deadwood" movie.

A few years ago I gave a lecture in Oxford that was reprinted in the Guardian under the heading: "The novel is dead (this time it's for real)".
Titled "The Novel Is Dead (This Time It's for Real)," it uses a conversation the author had recently with his teenage son as a starting point for a meditation on the futility of long-form fiction in a world of tweets and bytes.
Now, though, it is done for real, everyone is dead, and the surprise is that instead of being relieved, I feel worse.
