Metro has claimed a scalp of sorts claiming that its Monday to Friday circulation of 1.34m sees it pass the Daily Mail's weekday circulation (1.31m), making it the second most-read weekday newspaper in the UK after the Sun.
Combined, the papers have a Monday-through-Friday circulation of 433,251 and 1,755 full-time employees.
The new guidelines are being published in Tuesday's issue of Circulation, a journal of the American Heart Association.
The San Jose Mercury News has pulled its Nov. 5 Sunday magazine out of circulation because the cover story, a personal essay, pondered how anyone the author liked or admired could be a Republican.
