For all the hype over big data, governments and business have yet to wake up to the "legals" around it: who has what rights, how far they extend and what you can do with them.
Facing a spate of weak earnings expectations and macroeconomic data, governments in Asia are mulling further fiscal and monetary measures.
In order to address the growing concern of losing critical data, governments world-wide are implementing stringent rules and regulations with severe penalties in aim to prevent the loss or theft of data when a portable storage device is lost.
Without data, governments can choose to ignore certain populations, neighborhoods, or dynamics.
Second, armed with the data governments and international bodies should then resolve to strengthen oversight of water management.
But across the board, people should have far greater knowledge of exactly what data governments and corporations have about them and we need much tougher rules to make sure that the national security state can't abuse potential dissidents with that data and that predatory financial firms aren't assisted by companies like Google in preying on consumers using their data either.
