Increasing the length of time beyond a year at an Australian RCS campus for undergraduate medical students is associated with current work location, preferred current work location and intended work location in a rural area.

Conscript versus non- conscript: Graduates who attended the RCS voluntarily (non-conscript), were significantly more likely to be interested in rural practice as their preferred current and intended work locations (preferred OR = 2.5, 95% CI = 1.0-6.3 1.0-6.3015 and intended OR = 3.2, 95% CI = 1.3-7.6, P = 0.015 respectively).
